INFOBUNKER COMPLETES HVAC UPGRADE
Des Moines, Iowa – November 10, 2011: InfoBunker, one of the most secure & cost-effective data centers in the Midwest is now one of the most energy efficient. InfoBunker has now completed a ground-breaking HVAC upgrade enabling cooling of the entire colocation facility, up to ten months out of the year, using nothing more than filtered outside air. This $250,000 systems modification enables InfoBunker to pass even greater savings along to its clients and to stake a claim as one of the ‘Greenest' data centers in the nation.

InfoBunker previously utilized standard HVAC with air-side economizers and was actively seeking additional efficiencies. InfoBunker now has a total 2Nx2 cooling deliverable via segregated paths and mediums, allowing full redundancy across all cooling paths, regardless of exterior conditions, making the data center among the most fault-tolerant in the nation.
“All of these systems combined give us the ability to harness ambient air in a reliable and precise manner to meet client needs,” said McGinnis. The new system includes an industry-leading, facility-wide digital control & monitoring system that can automatically adjust finished air quality based on 50+ data points via monitors located at 17 locations throughout the building.
The opportunity to free-cool the facility came on the heels of the new ASHRAE data center standards. The company chose to seize the opportunity to further reduce operating costs, improve their energy-efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint.
